About Me
Erin Harwood, a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), brings over two decades of expertise in supporting students with diverse learning needs across public, private and home school settings. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Business from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001. After relocating to Austin, Texas, Erin pursued a graduate degree in School Psychology at Texas State University, becoming licensed by the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychologists in 2005.
Erin began her career as a Reading Specialist at Pflugerville Independent School District (ISD) while completing her graduate studies. Her early experience included internships at Texas State Hospital and Round Rock ISD, where she honed her skills in psychological assessment and intervention. As a School Psychologist at Pflugerville ISD, Erin conducted preschool evaluations and worked in a bilingual school, developing expertise in identifying learning disabilities among English as a Second Language (ESL) students.
For ten years, Erin served at Casis and Brentwood Elementary Schools in Austin ISD, where she supported special populations through the Life Skills Program and the Behavioral Rehabilitation Program for children in foster care at Helping Hands Home. Recognizing a gap in psychological services within private schools, Erin pioneered the provision of these services in Austin’s private school sector. For the past eight years, she has collaborated closely with institutions such as St. Andrew’s Episcopal School (Lower School) Austin Waldorf School, and home school’s, specializing in identifying learning differences and implementing effective interventions. She is highly skilled in conducting assessments for Dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism, ensuring students receive tailored support to thrive academically and socially. Erin also continues to provide independent evaluations for students in Austin ISD.
Erin’s commitment to education extends to her community involvement. She has served on the boards of First English United Methodist Preschool in Hyde Park and Cedar Creek Elementary in Eanes ISD, contributing to the advancement of local educational initiatives.
When not working, Erin enjoys cheering on her three children at their activities, spending time outdoors with her husband and two dogs in Austin. She’s also an amateur at landscape photography.
